Gallatin ZIP Code Coverage
Only one Gallatin ZIP Code has complete support in the project research. USPS confirms 37066 as the Gallatin preferred-city postal area and identifies the Gallatin Post Office there. The research did not capture a complete USPS City and State return for Gallatin, so it does not establish every other ZIP that may serve a Gallatin mailing address. That gap should stay visible rather than become a guessed list of neighborhoods or postal areas.
| ZIP Code | Documented postal area | Post office | Research note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 37066 | Gallatin preferred-city postal area | Gallatin Post Office, 380 Maple St | USPS location page confirms the post office and ZIP. Verify a specific delivery address with USPS. |
| Other ZIPs serving a Gallatin mailing address | Not fully located in official sources | Not established | Use USPS City and State or an address lookup. Postal boundaries can cross city or county lines. |
A Gallatin ZIP code directory therefore begins with one reliable entry and an honest boundary: it is not a complete postal-boundary map. The Postal Service decides deliverability for a mailing address. Sumner GIS, E911, and city Planning answer different location questions. Run the appropriate check before treating an address as inside the incorporated city or inside a particular service area.
Verify a Gallatin ZIP Code With USPS
The USPS ZIP Lookup is the official first stop for a postal question. Its address mode asks for a street address and allows an apartment, suite, or other unit detail. USPS warns that a result does not confirm a person or company at the address. Add a unit when the address contains more than one delivery point. The City and State mode requires Gallatin and Tennessee, while Cities by ZIP starts with a ZIP Code and returns postal city names.
The official Gallatin Post Office location page documents the post office used for the 37066 verification point.
The office appears at 380 Maple Street, Gallatin, TN 37066-9998. Use that location fact as a postal reference, then use the USPS lookup for the actual street address under review.
Note: A USPS result establishes postal delivery information, not city jurisdiction, parcel ownership, or a person at the address.
Gallatin ZIP Code Search Fields
The USPS modes use different inputs. Choosing the right one avoids a misleading search. A person with a full street address should use By Address. A person checking which postal codes USPS returns for the place name should use By City and State. Cities by ZIP works in the other direction and can identify postal city names associated with a known code.
| USPS mode | Fields captured | Required inputs | Gallatin use |
|---|---|---|---|
| By Address | Company, Street Address, Apt/Suite/Other, City, State, ZIP | Street Address; city and state as needed | Verify delivery ZIP for a particular Gallatin address. |
| By City and State | City, State | City and State | Run Gallatin, TN to obtain the live official returned list. |
| Cities by ZIP | ZIP | ZIP | Check postal city names associated with 37066 or another confirmed code. |
USPS did not render a complete Gallatin City and State result during the research capture. That is why this Gallatin ZIP code directory does not label a PO box code, unique code, or additional area code without a live USPS result. Postal tools should be checked again when a specific address is the question.
Find Gallatin Residents by ZIP Code
A ZIP can narrow an address workflow, but the official local tools do not support a verified ZIP-wide public resident search. TPAD visibly accepts a property address, owner name, or parcel ID. Its initial form did not show a ZIP filter. The Sumner GIS viewer can be browsed by map and address, but no ZIP-wide layer or filter was verified. GoVoteTN's address mode uses a street address and ZIP Code, while the name route is a separate registration lookup.
- Verify the mailing ZIP with USPS using the complete street address and unit, if applicable.
- Enter the physical property address in TPAD with Sumner County selected. Preserve the parcel ID and property address from the result.
- Open Sumner County GIS Property Search to confirm parcel geometry and the E911 address context.
- Use GoVoteTN only for an individual registration check with the available street-address and ZIP inputs. Do not read it as a ZIP-wide list.
- When the ZIP has narrowed the area to a street, continue with the address chain in the Gallatin street directory.
Sumner County's voter-file service is a separate request route under TCA §2-2-138 for political purposes. It uses a written order, photo ID, permitted formats, and listed fees. It does not convert the public web lookup into a general ZIP roster, and protected voters remain an exception.
Gallatin ZIP Code Portal Limits
Search results can look more complete than they are. The TPAD property record may show an owner, property address, parcel identifiers, class, and sale date, but it has no verified ZIP-wide search in the captured form. An E911 point may hold an assigned address, while USPS uses a postal delivery string. The voter address tool may require both the street and ZIP. These are targeted lookup tools, not a source for every resident in 37066.
The Tennessee Voter Lookup has a different field pattern: county, first name, last name, birth month, and birth year. It is a registration-match tool. The public result can depend on exact spelling and current county data, and Safe at Home participants can use a substitute address. Keep the ZIP result, parcel result, and registration result separate in your notes.
Note: A no-match can reflect spelling, an address change, a different county, a protected record, or a portal limit rather than a conclusion about residency.
Gallatin ZIP Code City Limits
Postal boundaries and city limits solve different problems. A Gallatin postal address can be outside incorporated Gallatin, while a city parcel can carry a postal city or ZIP that does not mirror the municipal boundary. USPS decides a delivery address. City GIS or Planning helps establish jurisdiction. E911 explains assigned-address geometry. Do not use a ZIP alone as a substitute for city, county, school, utility, or zoning jurisdiction.
- ZIP Code and ZIP+4
- A ZIP Code directs mail to a delivery area. ZIP+4 adds a more specific delivery segment, such as part of a block or an address range.
- PO box ZIP
- A postal code used for Post Office box delivery. The project research did not establish a Gallatin PO box-only code.
- Unique ZIP
- A code assigned to one organization or facility. No Gallatin unique ZIP was confirmed in the research.
- Carrier route
- A postal delivery route used to organize mail service. It is not a city boundary or a list of households.
Boundary check. Confirm a postal code with USPS and confirm local jurisdiction with Gallatin Planning, city GIS, or the E911 address layer. A matching ZIP does not establish either one by itself.
Gallatin ZIP Code Library Discrepancy
The Gallatin Public Library is a practical reminder to check rather than assume. The county branch page displays 123 E Main Street, Gallatin, TN 37075, while city and local references use 37066. The research did not reconcile those values. Treat the difference as a mailing and search-input issue, not evidence that the library defines a separate Gallatin area. Confirm the current postal address directly with the library before sending mail or using it to filter an address search.
The Bailey History and Genealogical Room remains useful once an old address has a verified street form. Ask for city and telephone directories, reverse directories, newspaper microfilm, obituary indexes, and yearbooks. Its exact directory years were not exposed on the public branch page, so ask staff to identify a particular volume rather than assuming a searchable online run.
Note: A documented address discrepancy is a reason to verify an input, not a reason to infer a postal boundary or resident connection.
Older Gallatin Records Precede ZIP Code
ZIP Codes are modern postal keys. They cannot be used to search a nineteenth-century deed, the January 1888 Gallatin Sanborn maps, or a historical directory as though the same geography existed then. When a current USPS search misses an old address, compare former and current street names, the E911 address assignment, the parcel's legal description, and subdivision or lot references. The May 2025 Magnolia Street split and the Elm Street and Anderson Avenue naming conflict show why street variants matter.
The Library of Congress Gallatin Sanborn collection has four January 1888 sheets for building and street context, not occupants. Sumner Archives adds tax lists, census materials, deed/deed-index microfilm, newspapers, maps, and historical indexes. Its researchers note that there is no universal every-name index. Name the record type and time period when requesting a search, and use a legal description when an old street number does not match a modern address.
